ZF Tech Day. Vlad Cazan and Adrian Dima, founders of KFactory: We want to access funding of around €2 million for international expansion.

What innovations is technology bringing to factories? From production monitoring to artificial intelligence – what does the next generation of solutions look like for this industry?

♦ KFactory customers include Teconnex, Bauer Kompressoren, Sauter und Tristar. And recently, the start-up has also won a contract in the UK with a leading European automotive player ♦ Early next year, KFactory will launch a new version of its platform with which it will be able to digitise almost any process in the production area.

“Next year we are looking at an investment round of around €2-2.5m to continue to expand in the market we have just entered, the UK, and to continue to develop the platform and introduce new elements. From a business point of view, we have increased revenues and we are now at the stage where we are self-sustaining, so we are trending towards zero EBITDA. This is also in line with what investors are expecting now, because the way investors look at start-ups has changed a bit and we have prepared for that,” Vlad Cazan, co-founder of KFactory, told ZF Tech Day.

The start-up has managed to enter the UK market, where it is working with a major client in the automotive industry: ‘We discovered a very active investment, start-up and manufacturing ecosystem. We already have clients there, we are working with a large automotive company owned by a top European automotive player. We have also entered into some accelerator programs and I believe that next year, if we manage to raise the investment round, the growth will be rapid,” he said.

Plans to launch new functionalities

Currently, the KFactory platform offers several functionalities for the manufacturing industry, and the company has recently developed new modules. “We have been able to attack some new functionalities, some processes where we have gone into much more detail. I start with a few examples from production and production cadence recognition in manual assembly processes. There are not many vendors in the market that know how to attack this manual assembly process, because it’s hard to intercept with sensors or other methods. And we were able with the help of the camera to identify the production and do things in such a way to optimise that process by up to 30%,” explained Adrian Dima, co-founder of KFactory, adding what new functionalities the team has developed in the area of quality monitoring and logistics.
