In other words, FPY calculates the efficiency of a process by assessing how many units meet quality standards the first time through, without the need for rework or correction.<\/p>\r\n<p>Manufacturers calculate FPY by dividing the number of good, defect-free products by the total number of products produced in a given stage or process. For example, if 100 units enter a process and 90 come out defect-free without needing rework, the FPY is 90%.<\/p>\r\n<p>First Pass Yield (FPY), or Throughput Yield (TPY), is critical because it highlights the quality and efficiency of a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Industrial_processes\">production process<\/a>.
